Stacey Bartlett

Stacey Bartlett Memorial Bracelet

Bennington, Nebraska

A ready smile and wisecracking personality made Stacey Bartlett the center of most gatherings. "She was so funny and always smiled," said Bartlett's sister, Sarah Fox. "She was especially good at making quick-witted comebacks." Bartlett, 16, died in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Military Road and Ida Street

===============================================================================
A high school student on her way home from work was killed in a Tuesday night traffic accident in northwest Omaha.

She has been identified as 16-year-old Stacey Bartlett. The accident happened just after 7 p.m. at 136th and Ida, west of the I-680 interchange.

Bartlett, who attended Bennington High School, was driving a compact car that collided with a pick-up at the intersection.The pickup driver, identified as 47-year-old Lawrence Grimm of Omaha, was critically injured but was upgraded to good condition by Wednesday. Investigators say they believe that Grimm ran a stop sign in his Dodge Ram pickup, colliding with Bartlett's Toyota.

Bartlett's family says they want people to know who Stacey was, rather than being known as just another accident victim. "A smile that could light up a room," said Naomi Hollingsworth of her daughter. "Just so pretty and just happy." Hollingsworth said she doesn't want her daughter to be just another accident statistic.

"She was planning on going into the army," she said. "So that would help pay
for her college to get a business degree. And it's all gone now."
"I'm sad for the person that did this," said Sarah Fox, Stacey's sister.
"They'll have to live with it too. Not only we do, they'll have to live with it,
for the rest of their lives." Grimm was last listed in good condition at the Nebraska Medical Center. The
Douglas County Sheriff's department is waiting on the results of a blood test before moving forward on any charges.

A service for Bartlett will be held Saturday in Bennington. A memorial fund
has been created in her name (The Stacey Bartlett Memorial Fund) at all three
Bank of Bennington branches. One is in Bennington and the other in Omaha.
