Officer Philip Davis was shot and killed while making a traffic stop on I-65 at approximately 11:50 pm. During the stop the suspect opened fire, fatally wounding Officer Davis.
The suspect fled the scene and was arrested two hours later.
Officer Davis had served with the Pelham Police Department for 4.5 years and had previously served with the Calera Police Department. He is survived by his Parents, wife and two children.
