FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — Two soldiers with the 101st Airborne Division have been killed in separate bombings in Iraq.

Both soldiers — Sgt. David Herrera, of Oceanside, Ca., and Pfc. Brian J. Schoff, of Manchester, Tenn. — belonged to the same company but were conducting separate combat operations at the time of the roadside bombings on Saturday, said Cathy Gramling, a public affairs officer at Fort Campbell.

Both were standing near their military Humvees when improvised explosive devices detonated, according to the Department of Defense. Herrera and Schoff were both assigned to Company D, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat team.

Herrera, 25, joined the Army in 1998 and is survived by his wife, Tonya, and daughter, Emma, of Clarksville, Tenn.

Schoff, 22, is survived by his mother, Cathy Odle, of Manchester, Tenn., and father, Brian L. Schoff, of Michigan City, Ind.

Memorial services for both men are scheduled to be held in Iraq.

Including the deaths of Herrera and Schoff, 114 soldiers from Fort Campbell have been killed in the Iraq war.
