Officer Scott Wheeler succumbed to injuries sustained two days earlier when he was struck by a speeding vehicle he was attempting to flag down on Route 32.

The incident occurred after Cpl Wheeler, who was working a speed enforcement detail on MD Rt. 32 near US Rt. 1 with two other officers, attempted to stop the vehicle for a speeding violation.

He was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he died.

Officer Wheeler had served with the Howard County Police Department for 6.5 years. He is survived by his Parents and wife.
