After Tye's Death Tye's parents, Mike Pratt Sr. and Rita Pratt, wanted to do somthing in his honor, to keep Tye's quest alive... "to make a difference in the lives of others".
"I always have believed if you can change the hearts and minds of children you can change the way they feel about themselves, how they feel about themselves determines their actions and that determines what they become"... "As the twig grows, so grows the tree" Mr. Pratt said. We want to do something to help guide the youth of our community.
After trying to work with Omaha Police Foundation and meeting with Barbra Wilson of The Jimmy Wilson Foundation and The Boys and Girls Club of Omaha they came to the conclusion, "there's no need to start a new fund or orgainztion", we'll just help raise money with the Tye BandsTM".
The Tye BandTM was created after the father of Officer Jason "Tye" Pratt received a narrow wrist band which simply bore Tye's badge number... 1463. Although his father was humbled by this thoughtful gesture, in memory of his son, his emotions were mixed. As Tye's father looked at it he thought ... "that was nice, but Tye is so much more than a number". He needs to be remembered for who he was and what he lived for... someone who was
"Making a Difference in The Lives of Others".
