Mr pratt,

i wanted to thank you again for the Tye Band. i was only without it for a little while in the hospital (they wouldn't let me wear it in surgery) and i put it on as soon as i woke up - and the only times i have had it off since were for showering. i am comforted by it and was comforted by it during my recovery - i am still recuperating, my surgeon told me it will be a full 6 months before he's sure i won't need anything else, but ido feel a lot better even though i still have to take pain medication - but i'm sure the way was made easier by feeling strengthened by my tye band.

i thank you also for your good wishes. god bless you and your family and i'm sure jason is proud of you.

Cser, Jacqueline (OPD)

Dear Mike and Rita Pratt,

My name is Jessica Norman. I am a student at Burke High School, and also part of the Burke Band. On November 6, 2004 you were at our annual Burke Band Boutique, selling the Tye Bands. I really wanted one, because I believe it is a very good cause. I found out that there was one being raffled off in the last of the raffles, and was hoping to win it, but unfortunately, I didn't. When Rita Pratt came up to me, and put one on my wrist, I was speechless. I really didn't know what to say. What she said to me was something I will remember forever. She said to wear it always, and proudly. And I know I will. I am honored to get to have one, and I know I will keep it forever. You two are truly amazing people for what you are doing, and you will be in my prayers.

Love always,

Jessica Norman

From The Desk of:

James M. Horn, Director

Oklahoma Chapter of C.O.P.S (Concerns Of Police Survivors)

Hi Mike,

It was an honor to meet you and Rita and a privilege to talk with you about the past, present and future.

This is a magnificent web site and I know Tye is beaming with pride about what his parents have done for the good of society since his death. There is no greater tribute than to make good come from tragedy. I salute you both and look forward to joining efforts to raise additional funds for the good of survivors.

I know our people will be excited to learn of this potential joint effort.

Thanks,
Jim

"Hello. What a beautiful and touching project this is. I teach in one of Omaha's public high schools, and I see the good work the Omaha Boys & Girls Club does for our kids. Thank you so much for providing the opportunity for community members to show support for all of Omaha's police and youth while remembering Officer Pratt."

"I'am humbled by the goodness the entire family has shown...

doing such a great deed and showing such courage."

Q:
We have received some emails, asking "How/why you desided to offer the The Tye Band© in Black, Red, and Blue.
A.
Tye's parents choose black, in mourning of their son.
Red for the blood he shed to Protect and Server ALL of us.
Blue because, He... Tye was ALWAYS a "TRUE BLUE guy"...

Dear Mike & Rita Pratt,

I saw the Tye bands on television and what a wonderful gift in the name of Tye. I am a mother of two sons, 44 and 46 yrs of age, and to think of losing them is incomprehensible to me.

I want you to know I saw it all, from the time it came on television thru the funeral and happenings since.

Mr Pratt, my heart and prayers are there for you and all your family and those precious little girls.

I see they look so much like their Daddy, they are a living memorial to him.

You are doing a great service to kids with this project.

Also, in this day of too many choices and wrong ones made every day and every hour, I think, God, give you strength in all you do.

Your site is a living memorial to him.

Once I found the site, I looked at every picture and said... you need to look at these pictures every day, and to talk to him every day to help you in your sadness.

I came back here to Harlan IA, from Omaha, to care for my parents, in their home. They lived 6 yrs and it was a wonderful time for me and them. When I lost them, 3 ½ months apart, it was very difficult to let go. So I put up their pictures and played the cassette my son made of them talking about their early years and married life. finally l could laugh at some of the really funny thing things they said. After 10 years, their 60th anniversary picture is the center of this house setting on the fireplace mantel I am buying this old house for my kids and grandchildren to see and come spend time in, now and when I am gone. that is FAMILY and we need it so badly in this world.

Growing up in the 50s, I look around and ask where we are headed in this crazy time. ..take care and be safe out there..that is how I close every message to my children and friends anymore...as a person does not know what is "out there" anymore....I wish I could take us all back to the 50s for the really "good life"... I was privileged to grow up then.

I talk to them every day at some time and I know they are still with me, in this house and it is Gram and Gramps house always.

I need to work, so can't send my check until the 30th but I want one of the black bands so hold one for me and look for my check.

You are forever in my thoughts and prayers.

God, take care of ALL of Tye's family

Most sincerely,

MaryClare Bowman

Hello Mike Sr. - Tye's Father

We spoke over the phone Thursday and I promised to look up the story of your son, Tye. That night at home, I realized that this kept popping into my head over and over, and the first thing on Friday a.m. I got on line to read his story. What a guy! I found myself reading every single word and looking at each picture I could see about Tye. My daughter, Amy, is the same age, born in July, and is also a wonderful gift from God. I can’t even begin to imagine the loss everyone has had to endure, yet I was able to see that he is still remembered with great love and affection, his life is celebrated by remembering his achievements, and the pictures of him through the years let you “know” him without ever having actually met him. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, and leave you with this thought that keeps my family going in times of loss: “Those who love will meet again.”

Hello. My name is Dawna and I was fortunate to have "dated" Tye when I lived in Yutan. I remember Rita bringing him to see me in town in the summer or when he would ride his four wheeler to visit or when Rita and Mike came to the homecoming dance to see Mike and Melanie crowned King and Queen and brought Tye along. I remember he didn't want to "leave" the dance then either. When I heard about what happened last year, I was devistated. Tye was a caring, wonderful person. He was full of life and a joy to be around. There are very few days that I don't think about him still.

Thank you for sharing your son with the world. He made a difference and he will always be remembered.

I am an officer in Lincoln and would like to get 3 bands. I will be in Omaha on September 20. Are there any stores that regularly carry them so I can pick them up at that time or will I have to order them online???

Please let me know!

This is a wonderful idea and I am excited to get one so others will see it and follow!

My name is Kim Armstrong and I am the lead singer of "Shattered Zen", one of the bands playing on Saturday.

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to play at this event. Like many people, I was profoundly effected by Tye's death. I can honestly say that I have thought about Jason, Stacy, Madison, Jordyn, Rita, Mike & Michael every day. My 4 year old daughter Payton still prays for God to bless Jason, Stacy, Madison, Jordyn & Rita (when we started the prayer a year ago...that was the limit of her memory!) every night. My best friend's husband is a Lincoln police officer. Please know that the Armstrong family will NEVER forget the sacrifice Jason & your entire family made one year ago. It has left an indelible image andour hearts go out to each and every one of you. Please keep me in mind for future events (for a band, for volunteers, whatever!). There are many organizations I feel strongly about -- but don't have an enormous amount of time -- however, your organization is something that my husband I would FIND time for.

Take care and keep in touch!

Wow, just a great website! I just saw the new Sgt. Pratt bands so I plan I buying one of those. This is such a great idea and a great cause! Emily

Thank you so much for my Tye band and I love the way Tye's father said it " with a Tye Band, you can carry a part of Tye with you every day and every where you go".

I found your website and think that Tye would have really liked this.

I graduated from Burke HS with Tye. He was a great guy; funny and kind.

Though I was not close friends, we knew each other. I was a varsity cheerleader during our senior year, ran track and played parts in musicals.

I wish you well with the Tye Bands and plan to purchase one just as soon as I can.

Thank you!

Hi Mike and Rita I just wanted to say sorry for not coming by. I have not been the best. It still hurts and I get upset every time I see an article or hear anything about any of you. I miss all of you very much and most of all Tye. Not many will understand all that Tye gave me. Pushing me so hard in the gym until I puked which ended up getting me in top shape and was able to go to California to see if bodybuilding was for me. My first spring break, my first hunting dog, my biggest fish, my first quail, my first truck, this is just a little bit that Tye shared with me. If it was not for my great wife I'm not sure how I could of handled everything.

I will see you soon your long lost third son Kevin Rothermund
