"Will You Remember Me?"

Officer Tye Pratt's Last Request: To see over 1100 pictures of TYE, scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the links in the orange table below.

"Less than a week before he died, Omaha Police Ofc. Jason Tye Pratt asked his father to "Remember me." Michael Pratt Sr. said at the time, his son's request seemed odd to him. "Tye and I had this ongoing joke," he said. "Whenever we would say goodbye, we'd say 'Are you going to miss me?' The last thing he asked me, the weekend before he was shot was 'Dad, are you going to remember me?' and I said 'Yeah, I'm going to miss you.' not thinking anything of it. And he said 'No, are you going to remember me?'" as reported by COURTNEY BRUMMER , Staff Writer 06/13/2004 ( See the Daily Nonpareil article )

On the last night Tye was at his parents home and the whole Pratt family was together. Rita, Tye's mother, spent all morning and the most of the day before, making sure everything was set for a great dinner and good time. They laughed and told stories about the boys and the little grandchildren ran around the house and they all just hung on every word as the stories were told. Tye's family was the last to leave. As the evening wound down, Tye went outside. His father was sitting on a chair in the garage and saw Tye looking straight down as he was kicking a small rock. This wasn't unusual as he often did this when in deep thought. Then he said " so, are ya going to remember me". The question didn't really register because he and his father had this long running joke... when they would see each other, one of them would say... hay, "did you miss me" when they meet and "are you going to miss me" as their way of saying good by. Tye knew his father didn't really hear what he said that night when he said "are ya going to remember me" because his dad laughingly replied "ya, Im going miss you". Tye said "NO, are ya going to remember me" dad? Knowing that Tye was on the E.R.U. Unit ( emergency Response Unit ), The S.W.A.T. Team, His father said, "does the SWAT team have something big coming up that's got you concerned". Tye replied, "no". His dad said "you're so well trained and you have you buddies, you'll be fine". Without looking up Tye said "well, you never know dad." Just then, Tye's wife came out with the kids. Rita hugged and kissed everyone, his father leaned inside the truck, place his hand around Tye's wrist and while rubbing the back of his head said " I love you son" Tye replied I love you too dad.

Those were the last words Tye and his father spoke together.

Over the last 4 years, while grieving the death of their son and the pain of not being able to see their grandchildren for over three years because Tye's X - Wife, Stacy Pratt, will not allow it.

Tye's parents were able to put over Thousands of Dollars towards the Ofc. TYE Pratt Law Enforcement Fund and $10,000.00 in the Officer Tye Pratt Scholarship fund at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Omaha.

Since Officer Jason "TYE" Pratts death...
much has been said about what happened. How he was murdered, the laws, and the system.
This site is dedicated to How
Tye LIVED!

Who is Tye Pratt?

Actually, "Tye" is not a nick name, it's his legal middle name. When Tye was born his mother, Rita, loved the name Jason and his father wanted the name Tye, so Mike Pratt Sr. said to Rita "name him what you want but I'm calling him Tye".

Stacy Partt, Tye's X-wife, didn't even know his first name was Jason until they went to get their wedding license. Other than his fellow officer his best friends didn't even know it was Tye who was shot until the news started using the name Tye.

Tye was always an over achiever from the time he was very little and when Tye met Stacey Pratt he was going to collage and on the dean list, drove a newer model Toyota 4 wheel drive pickup, was working two jobs while was living with his grandmother so he could be close to UNO and his work. He was always "going places!!".

Tye was always lifting up the people around him. Stacy, Tye's former wife, once told Tye's dad " he makes me a better person". Mr. Pratt replied. "he's been doing that ever since he was little". Mr. Pratt was reminded of a time when he was arguing with his 13 year old granddaughter. After she had left the room, Tye said, just one thing... Dad ,who's the adult here?
Yes, Tye made everyone around him live to a higher standard.

While still in high school Tye once told his father...
"In the end, what really counts is not how well off we are, but how many people we've helped along the way."

Tye was not GREAT because of how he died
but because of the way he LIVED!

"Because he loves me I will make him Great."

Psalms 54:18

Tye was a rugged, All State running back in football, road Bulls in rodeos and was the "bunker" ( first in ) for the Omaha Police S.W.A.T. team he could be seen holding hands with his mother at the Shopping Mall. Perhaps he was best described by his commanding office Kunzie who said "Tye was all man and had the heart of a child."

It may look as though Tye had the perfect life and many ways he did but the most important thing to Tye and his family was that he know and loved Jesus. Tye called Him, "his best friend".

God loves Tye and all of us Love Tye as well.

So we can all remember TYE click on the links in the table below to see hundreds of pictures of "How Tye LIVED!
